How wonderful it is to hear members of the Hobo Hill Worship Center become ordained leaders of the worldwide Seventhday Adventist Church. Veron and Norman were recently ordained elders; Brother Stoll was ordained as deacon (mid 80s) and Mandy (teenager) was ordained deaconess. The Lord has blessed the Worship Center abundantly with members, young and [...]
“When it’s springtime in Alaska and its 42 below” (as the song says) it is time to plan the details of the summer’s mission projects. To do the planning when there is still 4 feet of snow on the ground and temperatures are still sinking to more than 20 below seems out of season. But [...]
My mother, Genalyn, fondly called Gina, was admitted two years ago for complications associated with diabetes. She underwent surgery and was in the hospital for several months. Sadly, it took years for her foot to heal from the surgery. We give thanks to the Lord Almighty-- her health began to stabilize. Then on March 9, [...]
We are bombarded with discouraging news every day. As I write, the war in Ukraine seems to only get worse, and disasters around the world grow in number by the day; young adults overdosing on drugs, and even close friends of mine losing their faith and focus. Things are bad in this world. The [...]

While in Nicaragua, Ray and I contracted covid. Ray became ill first, myself 3 days later. We had high fever, dysentery, [...]
Thank you once again to our generous donor who provided the requested funds to purchase Annely a laptop so she could continue with her secondary education. Last December when we made an appeal for funds, the laptop was on sale. When the funds arrived in Guyana, the sale was over and thus we planned to [...]
Winter in Alaska is never far from the consciousness of those who live here year after year. The summers are so short that it seems that one is recovering from the winter all the while getting ready for the next. To add to the extremes found here already, more and more we are experiencing weather [...]
During my last visit to Sagpangan, Dr Cynie came along not only to be the speaker during the worship service but more importantly to be able to check on some patients. After Sabbath lunch and the distribution of the relief goods, we headed to the house of Mark, one of the baptized youths, to check [...]
I was driving to AWA’s hangar to get to work. Along the way, I saw a gentleman working on his truck on the opposite side of the highway. The Lord impressed me to turn around and go back to him, so I pulled my car behind his truck....Click to continue reading Visit [...]
