I am writing this update not from an office, but from the perspective of a volunteer pilot serving here in Jamaica in the days following Hurricane Melissa. What we are seeing from the air is difficult to fully put into words. Entire stretches of coastline and inland communities have been heavily affected. Roofs gone. Roads blocked by fallen trees and debris. Power lines are down in many areas. In some places, it looks like the storm has rewritten the landscape. And yet, even in the middle of all this destruction, what has stayed with me most is not just what is broken, but the resilience of the people on the ground trying to help each other.
