Rainy season means rain, rain and more rain. The hard work accomplished by the AWA Palawan Project team a few years ago on the airstrip turned into a huge disappointment when the first major tropical storm arrived with torrential rains. Water from the nearby road, from neighboring farms and high elevation rushed across the fresh airstrip and began eroding the runway surface. When the storm passed, the damage was revealed. Our AWA team began constructing culverts and creating pathways to divert water away from the runway. Prayerfully, these will continue to be effective in diverting the water and eroding the runway surface….
