Hello again!
It’s Sunday evening here at our cozy Kentucky home, and all the kids are bedded down for the night. We had a birthday gathering today for Caleb, as it was his second birthday last week! We’re happy to have him in our lives. He brings us a lot of joy. It’s a wonder how God brought my wife and me together and now, with our two boys, we’re a family of four. It truly feels like a miracle. I believe that we are surrounded by miracles every day and we don’t really appreciate them. Only in heaven will we truly see how many miracles we’ve experienced.
I believe we don’t pray enough, let alone expect God to hear and answer. I’m trying to learn to walk by faith and praying that God would help me exercise faith and prove Him at His word. I have one story I’ll share that is a very simple miracle, but a good example.
I had just received a CD as a gift for my birthday with hymns played on a guitar. I put it into my car’s CD player to listen to it with my family as we drove to town. We enjoyed a few songs on the way to the store, but on our return trip, the CD player didn’t recognize that the CD was in the player. It wouldn’t play the CD nor would it eject it! I was really disappointed.
A few days later I was driving to work and I was thinking about my CD dilemma and started praying. I told God that I didn’t want to take apart my car stereo to retrieve the CD, possibly breaking my stereo, and I would really appreciate it if He could just make the CD pop out. I said that He’d done much bigger miracles for me as well as others and I knew this was more than within His capabilities. I also said if it’s not His will, I’d understand and try and figure something out.
I ended the prayer and pushed the eject button once…nothing. I lost a bit of steam, but kept the faith and pushed the button a few more times and again nothing. Then I thought, why not hold the button down and see what happens? I pushed and held, starting to lose hope when, pop, out comes the CD! Praise God! I almost pushed it back in to listen to the CD but I figured I shouldn’t test God’s patience with me by putting my miracle CD back into the finicky stereo. I took the CD home and put the songs into my phone to listen to.
We have a good God. It would be such a shame to not know Him. Not only is He our Creator, but also our Redeemer and an everyday Friend–there when you need Him, through thick and thin, big and small. His caring love shines through in the good news of the everlasting gospel. That is why AWA exists: to share the good news to those in darkness. There are plenty of people out there to tell and plenty of lives to save. Partner with us as we strive to save lives by dispelling the darkness with God’s truth, and share His love through the tool of aviation!
We are getting closer and closer to deployment! At this point, I believe we have all my flight training funded. All I have to do is find the time to fly, between work and caring for our young family, to gain necessary hours of piloting experience.
Right now, our biggest hurdle is fundraising for the Philippines project. For us to be able to deploy, we need to have a team of faithful monthly financial supporters. Our family needs to raise $6,000/month to support the AWA Philippines project. Keeping missionaries fed and housed, planes flying, and ground vehicles running, plus all the other little things that make a life-saving project like this possible, is a tall order. This undertaking is intimidating for us, but if God can make my stubborn CD player spit out my CD, he can make $6,000 in donations roll in every month so we can work with Him to save lives and spread the good news of the Gospel and Christ’s soon return!
Please continue to pray for us, as well as our fellow Philippines missionaries, the LaBore family, and this whole AWA project in the Philippines as we move forward in this work. Pray that God would sustain us by His Spirit and provide for all our needs. Thank you all for your loving support! May you be blessed in return!
