Greetings from the Fix family! We would like to share an update about God’s blessings with our work at AWA!
As we plan the path ahead, there are a few more tasks on the checklist between us and the mission field. One is finishing my commercial pilot’s license. God is helping me finish this up, by helping me finish the required flying experience and my last tasks.
One of the requirements I finished recently was a long cross country flight. I was unsure of how I might possibly fulfill this requirement. One day, Pastor Ric asked me if I could go to Iowa and pick up a plane that was donated to AWA and bring it to AWA headquarters in North Carolina. This is an 870-mile trip, which more than meets my commercial license requirements!
Before I could fly the plane, I needed to obtain a special permit to fly the plane to HQ because the plane was a few days past its annual inspection. I was worried because it was my first time requesting this kind of permit. The gentleman at the Iowa FAA office was really helpful and within two hours of sending in the form Monday morning, I had the permit! Praise the Lord! I was able to take off that afternoon and fly the plane to Kentucky that night. The following day I flew the plane on to North Carolina. God also provided weather that was beautiful for flying, narrowly missing a thunderstorm in North Carolina as I landed, picked up another plane, and headed out for home. The thunderstorm was directly over headquarters but parted just before I landed. God is good!
I have been able to make progress on my training and fundraising. God has provided side jobs doing tree work to help support us for right now, though we still need money to work full time and pay for deployment costs. Keep us in prayer as we near deployment. We need God to open all the rest of the doors to send us there. God knows what we need more than we know ourselves, but we are told by Jesus in the prayer he taught the disciples to ask for the things we need and to invite God’s will to be done here on earth (Luke 12:2-3). God has taken care of us thus far on our journey, why should we doubt God’s care for the future. So join us in prayer, asking God to bless us with the open doors to reach the Filipino people, so we can ultimately open the light of God’s word to them.
