Dear AWA Family,

In the western world, February is the month of love. Valentine’s Day traditions move us to send cards, flowers and gifts of love to those that are most dear to us.

In the remote areas of the world served by AWA missionaries, day to day survival is the focus of the local people. They do not have corner dollar stores to buy heart shaped cards and chocolates. The struggle to provide food, water and shelter for their families. Daily life is hard with none of the luxuries that we take for granted.

Nicaragua - Truck Repair

Truck repair

At our AWA mission sites in Guyana, Philippines, Nicaragua, Alaska and Canada, our mission families are reaching out to serve the needs of those living in these remote areas.

The needs are great. Currently, in Nicaragua, the mission truck is nearing the end of its useful life. Frequent breakdowns and difficult repairs have made it less reliable than desired. After $2,000 in repairs, it continues to have problems with the brakes. The constant fear is that it may breakdown in the middle of the jungle, stranding the passengers for extended periods. This truck is vital to AWA mission work, transporting medical evacuation patients to the airfield so they can be flown to the hospital. A break down could mean the difference between life and death.

Efforts are underway to raise $45,000 to replace the current Toyota Truck in Nicaragua. The goal is to purchase a new, dependable 4-wheel drive truck. The new truck will ensure that patients can be transported safely without fear of being left stranded.

In Guyana, our mission families, the Wilkerson and the Leas, are living in a remote village, 26 hours from the capital by boat. There are no roads to the capital from Marbaruma. The AWA plane is the fastest way to transport people with medical emergencies. A huge concern is that the hangar, needed to provide protection for the plane, is not yet completed. The hangar building materials have been purchased and shipped to Guyana. The next phase is to secure concrete for the foundation and slab on which the hangar can be constructed.

During this month dedicated to love, your prayers and financial gifts towards the purchase of a new Truck for our AWA Nicaragua mission and the successful completion of the hangar construction in Guyana are greatly appreciated.

As stated in 2 Corinthians 9:11 You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

God Bless,
