Hansen Family – April 2016

Dear Friends and Family,

As you know from our last newsletter, we were very excited about the Cessna 150 arriving from British Columbia. No one was as excited as my father, who has been a strong supporter over the past year. What we didn’t realize was that just a few short days later he would have a stroke. Even now he remains in the hospital and is recovering slowly. We are very thankful that he can talk and is pain-free. He lost much of the ability to use his right arm and leg, but he is working hard to learn to walk again. In the past month, we have been flooded with emails and phone calls of people telling us they are praying for him and us as well. We are so grateful for the love that you have poured out on our family.

Ironically, my flight instructor was also admitted to the hospital with pneumonia just after the plane arrived and was only recently given the “green light” to go back to work. We believe that the timing of these events was no coincidence; we know that God is in control.

Hansens IIAs if all these challenges weren’t enough we have already seen God’s hand of protection at work. Before the plane was flown to Alberta, the fuel tanks were carefully inspected for water since it had been sitting outside in a very wet environment. A fair bit of water was removed, and the plane was flown several times before being flown through the mountains to Alberta. When it arrived, I flew the plane with an instructor foranother hour and a half on the same tank of fuel. A few days later when we tried to drain the sumps on the wing tanks, they seemed to be stuck, and the engine would not start even though it had been pre-heated. Closer inspection showed that there was more water in the tanks. After parking the plane in a heated hangar for the weekend, about a quart of water was removed.

We are so grateful for God’s protection since the engine could easily have failed due to having so much water in the tanks. My mechanic told me that it was a miracle that the airplane did not suffer an engine failure. We are so grateful for God’s protection!

The next few months will be critical as we continue flight training and working on raising funds, but we are so encouraged by the words of Ellen White.

“Our heavenly Father has a thousand ways to provide for us of which we know nothing.”

The Great Commision

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Mathew 28:18-20
